SS564:2013 - Green Data Centre - Energy & Environment Management System
The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has partnered with other government agencies to develop a Singapore Standard for Green Data Centres. The purpose of the standard is to help data centres reduce their energy consumption which in turn results to a reduction in their operating costs.
The standard helps data centres in establishing systems and processes to improve their energy efficiency. SS 564 standard provides a recognized framework as well as a logical and consistent methodology to achieve continual improvement in their energy performance. The standard is modeled after ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System standard, however, it is specifically tailored to meet the requirements of data centres in Singapore.
Benefits of SS564:
- Lower operating costs due to a reduction in annual utilities bill
- Reduction in power consumption by ICT equipment despite increase in ICT workload
- Exercising corporate social responsibility (CSR) by contributing to the conservation of natural resources
