Auditing Organisation (AO) - Food Establishment Audits

Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) has expanded their Accreditation Scheme for Auditing Organisation (AO) to include Food Establishment Audits with effect from 22 February 2022.

The scope of food establishment audit covers audit of any place or any premises or part thereof used for the sale, or for the preparation or manufacture for distribution and sale, or for the storage or packing for distribution and sale, of food, whether cooked or not, intended for human consumption.

Under the Wholesome Meat and Fish Act, recognised AOs are currently authorised to perform audits for food establishments which manufacture meat and fish products for export only. The scope of the audit will be expanded to all other food commodities (eg: dairy, vegetable, beverage) by end 2022.

SFA will require food establishments that apply for food export certificates, to be audited by SAC accredited AO. The audit report will be used to support the approval of the export certificate issued by SFA.
