SS 584 stipulates cloud computing security practices and controls that can be adopted by cloud users and Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) to strengthen their governance, enhance their reliability and resilience in cloud environment.
SS 584 certification is applicable to three service models:

Infrastructure such as data centre: Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS),

Platform that sits on top of the infrastructure: Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS),

Enterprise facing application: Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
SS 584 certification is mandatory for CSPs participating in Government tenders imposed by the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA). SS 584 has three different tiers of cloud security, Tier 1 being the base level and Tier 3 being the most stringent.
