As Singapore is highly dependent on export, our food supply is vulnerable to the volatilities of the global food market. Aside to sudden disruptions of supply sources or transport routes, Singapore’s food supply is also susceptible to the change in food production.

With this, the Singapore’s Government has set a target of producing at least 30% of Singapore’s nutritional needs by 2030 to ensure food security.  

With this directive, the Food Standards Committee (FSC) under the purview of the Singapore Standards Council has set up a Technical Committee on Agritech and Agrifood Production to develop the following standards which enable organizations to keep up with new emerging farming technologies and promote responsible farming:

  • SS 675 caters to all indoor and outdoor agriculture systems in Singapore for vegetables, fruits and herbs farming. The standard specifies the best practices from pre-production to cultivation, harvesting and post-harvesting handling prior to delivery,

  • SS 675 provides guidance to local agriculture farms a holistic approach for farm management in the areas of food safety, product quality, environmental management and workers health, safety and welfare.
