SS 632:2017 – Specification for Organic Primary Produce

With the growing consumer demand and awareness in Singapore for organic foods, the Working Group under the purview of the Food Standards Committee, SS 632:2017 was developed with the aim to establish a guidance document to assure consumers for authentic organic claims on primary products including grains, fresh herbs, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits and mushrooms. SS 632 certification aims to ensure business viability and environmental sustainability for local business and industry practitioners in the organic primary produce sector. With this, it will ensure food resiliency within the supply chain.

SS 632:2017 is applicable to businesses and industry practitioners dealing with organic vegetables, fruits and grains within the farm to fork supply chain. It includes organic farmers, processors, re-packers, logistic providers, distributors, retailers, importers and exporters.

Structural Steel Fabrication

• SS EN 1090-1 & 2:2018 Execution of Steel Structures and Aluminium Structures

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) Standards Committee have jointly launched SS EN 1090-1 & 2:2018 – Execution of steel structures and aluminium structures on 23 January 2019.

The purpose is to harmonize and align the design and fabrication of structural steelworks to the SS EN 1090-1 & 2:2019 and ISO 3834 Welding Quality Management System (if applicable) in the building and construction industries in Singapore.

As SS EN 1090-1 & 2:2018 shall be mandatory from 1 June 2021, SOCOTEC Certification Singapore (SCS) is pleased to extend our inspection and certification services to you.

To ensure the quality of concrete used in structural applications, the Building Construction Authority of Singapore (BCA) has mandated that concrete manufacturers are to obtain Ready Mixed Concrete (RMC) product certification from a third-party certification body accredited to Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) like SCS.
