ISO 29993 is an international standard that sets out the requirements for Learning Services Outside of Formal Education. It provides the framework for learning service providers to deliver the services that fulfill the needs of the learners and their sponsors.
In 2015, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in collaboration with the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council (WSHC) has mandated that training providers of MOM accredited safety courses are required to attain ISO 29990:2010 Learning Service Provider (LSP) certification by 1 July 2017 as part of their ongoing efforts to raise the standards of WSH training courses.
Training Providers are required to meet ISO 29990:2010 certification requirements and will also have to conform to MOM’s Technical Notes. The Technical Notes stipulate WSH-related course requirements such as course duration, trainer criteria, trainees’ prerequisites, learning objectives and outcomes, assessment method and criteria. With the combination of ISO 29990 standard and MOM’s Technical Notes requirements, it will ensure that the WSH training courses are delivered at a high level of quality, while remaining relevant to Singapore’s industries.
